CHALLENGE

  • Founder had an algorithm that could calculate biological age of a person, analyzing certain biomarkers in blood test reports. Turns out that there is lot more that we could do beyond providing the number.

He reached out to me to package those abstract concepts into a product

OPPORTUNITY

Until now there is no efficient metric to measure health,
But biological age could reflect true health status

Everyone wants to be healthy but unlike wealth there is no proper metric to measure health, making it tough to stick to health goals. Weight, BMI & Fat percentage are the metrics people use but they don’t completely reflect health status - leading people to equate health goals with shedding few pounds.

But with new data aggregation and mathematical modelling of biological models - it’s possible to predict one’s biological age holistically based on analyzing medical reports for certain biomarkers that impact essential organs.

Apart from being a metric to measure health, getting tested once in 3 months for biological age has 2 major benefits as well

1. INCREASING LIFE SPAN

Group 18404 (1).png

Frequent testing helps in early detection of abnormal behavior in essential biomarkers that lead to these serious medical conditions thus helping to treat them aggressively from the start. Detection time is crucial for all these

2. INCREASING HEALTH SPAN

Numbers alone can’t reflect the absolute status

Each of us are unique, so is the impact of same habit on each of our biomarkers. 2 shots of vodka doesn’t get all of us equally high, same goes for coffee caffeine on sleep, cigarettes on lungs.

It’s on us to individually figure out what works for us, with active tracking of biomarkers it will empower us to explore ourselves

CHALLENGE

Translating the soul of complicated tech directions into intuitive MVP which users use regularly to track

IDENTIFYING TARGET USERS

Group 18406.png

For MVP we want to target this niche of athletes & long term care patients as measuring health and keeping track of certain biomarkers are essential and comes naturally to them.

COMPETITOR ANALYSIS

There are not so many applications in the market which are in the business of biomarker analysis but we looked at the mobile apps which are doing a part of what we intend to do.

Most of these are belong to the domains of tracking daily habits & behaviors; File repository apps, data visualization based apps etc.,

CONCEPT DIRECTIONS BEFORE USER RESEARCH

Ageing clock as a concept is already popular in longevity circles but the challenge for them is having no idea of practical adaption beyond that biological age number.

People outside of longevity circle are very new to this idea. So there is not so much of benefit talking to users very early about what they think of biological age as a concept instead it will be more fruitful if we could come up with multiple frugal directions and evaluate what they think of their relative practicality.

So when we tried to come up with concept directions, we did keep our target users and our perceived expectations of them in mind.

TALKING TO USERS WITH INITIAL CONCEPT DIRECTIONS

We showed the users the clusters of our initial concept directions and took ratings on each of them. Apart from core feedback on directions, these are somethings we learnt from them
